Department of Physics

The Department of Physics was established as part of SoPS in 2015 with the vision of imparting education in the field of physics with high quality teaching programs and competent faculties with diverse research backgrounds that cater to the ever challenging needs of teaching and technical excellence in various areas in physics with globally benchmarked curricula. The Department offers post graduate (integrated five years masters) and doctoral programmes. The curriculum of integrated M. Sc. programme is based upon UGC’s choice based credit system (CBCS) and provides the in-depth study of the subject and the related areas. The foundation of the subject is built through Core courses coupled with a choice based specialization of different branches of Physics through Elective courses. The department offers its Generic Elective courses to other departments in the university as a part of CBCS as well. The department is growing with time with its developing state of the art laboratories for learning through experiments. The Department is also offering a unique two years M. Sc. in physics with specialization in Optoelectronics in collaboration with Instruments Research & Development Establishment (IRDE), an institution of Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO), Dehradun.
